Job Description
Company Profile:
A leading consulting engineering firm specializing in end-to-end innovative engineering solutions across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrial Engineering domains. The organization partners with large-scale industrial clients to deliver technically rigorous, compliance-driven project management services — with a strong track record in industrial plant relocations, installations, and commissioning within MIDC and similar industrial zones.
Position Overview:
The Senior Engineer – Project Management Consultant will serve as the principal technical and operational lead for an industrial plant relocation project based at MIDC, Chh. Sambhaji Nagar. The role demands a seasoned engineer capable of managing the full spectrum of relocation activities — from pre-relocation planning and asset documentation through dismantling, logistics, installation, and final commissioning — while coordinating with client core teams, OEMs, vendors, and turn-key contractors. The individual will directly influence project timelines, safety compliance, and operational continuity for the client’s industrial facility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering from a recognized institution
- 6–7 years (B.Tech) or 10–12 years (Diploma) of progressive experience in plant maintenance, industrial engineering, or project execution
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience in industrial plant relocation projects — this is a non-negotiable prerequisite
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for plant layout interpretation and equipment line-out planning
- Proficiency in MS Project for scheduling, tracking, and milestone management
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, documentation, and commercial evaluation
- Familiarity with industry standards related to electromechanical systems, BOP auxiliary systems, and equipment commissioning
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Relocation Planning: Conduct thorough site surveys, develop detailed Method Statements (SOPs), establish relocation timelines, and proactively identify and mitigate risks to minimize operational disruption
- Asset Documentation & Inventory Management: Create and maintain comprehensive inventories and asset records for all machinery and equipment slated for relocation; participate in OEM coordination meetings to formulate robust relocation strategies
- Plant Layout Assessment: Evaluate the plant layout at the new location, chart material movement plans, confirm equipment line-out, and ensure methodical installation sequencing
- Dismantling & Preservation Oversight: Supervise the safe dismantling of equipment, manage preservation protocols for sensitive machinery during transit, and enforce handling standards throughout
- Logistics Coordination: Manage end-to-end transportation logistics for heavy, oversized, or precision industrial equipment, ensuring safe and timely delivery
- Installation & Commissioning Management: Oversee disconnection and reconnection of electromechanical services, coordinate with OEMs, and ensure full commissioning and functional validation at the new location
- Compliance & Safety Enforcement: Ensure all activities strictly comply with project-specific safety standards, applicable environmental regulations, and local statutory codes
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Liaise effectively with logistics contractors, equipment manufacturers, and internal plant management teams to maintain alignment and resolve on-ground challenges
- Project Scheduling & Delay Mitigation: Prepare, maintain, and track the project schedule; identify potential delays early and implement corrective measures proactively
- Commercial Invoice Evaluation: Undertake commercial evaluation of contractor invoices, verify scope alignment, and certify payments in accordance with contractual obligations
- Project Closeout Documentation: Ensure completion of all project testing, commissioning records, and formal closeout documentation per established standards
Skills Required:
- Proven expertise in the dismantling, relocation, and erection of Balance of Plant (BOP) and auxiliary industrial systems
- Strong project management acumen — ability to manage multiple workstreams, vendors, and stakeholders simultaneously in high-pressure site environments
- Solid proficiency in AutoCAD (plant layout reading, equipment positioning) and MS Project (scheduling and progress tracking)
- Excellent written and verbal communication — mandatory for stakeholder coordination, report preparation, and commercial correspondence
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in fast-paced, high-stakes industrial environments with extended on-site presence
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with the capacity to resolve technical and logistical challenges on the ground
- Collaborative orientation with the ability to work across cross-functional teams, OEMs, contractors, and client organizations
Special Requirements:
- Prior execution-level experience in industrial plant relocation is strictly mandatory — candidates without this background will not be considered
- Willingness to be site-based for extended durations throughout the project lifecycle at MIDC, Chh. Sambhaji Nagar
- Must be comfortable operating within industrial zones and plant environments, adhering to all applicable safety protocols
- Experience working with MIDC-based projects or similar large industrial clusters will be an added advantage
- Ability to interface professionally with OEM representatives, statutory authorities, and senior client stakeholders
