Job Description
Company Profile:
A leading manufacturer of current and power transformers, the company specializes in designing and producing high-precision electrical components for the power, utility, and industrial sectors. With strong engineering expertise and a trusted market presence, it is focused on driving continued business growth.
Position Overview:
The Automation Machine Maintenance Engineer will keep production machines running reliably and efficiently while improving them through automation and lean practices. The role covers PLC and HMI work, machine troubleshooting, and cycle time reduction, and supports projects from concept to handover. The engineer will directly improve machine uptime, process efficiency, and workplace safety on the shop floor.
Qualifications:
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Automation, or a related engineering discipline
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in industrial automation and machine maintenance
Key Responsibilities:
- Lean & Process Improvement: Apply Lean and Kaizen principles to identify losses, bottlenecks, and non-value-added activities, and improve machine and process efficiency
- Automation: Identify and implement automation solutions, and upgrade existing machines to reduce manual work and improve reliability
- Cycle & Lead Time Reduction: Reduce cycle time and lead time by improving material handling, sequence control, and process flow, and by fixing recurring delays
- 1S–5S: Maintain 1S–5S practices and improve safety, accessibility, tools, cabling, and control panels
- PLC & HMI: Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs and HMI screens, alarms, trends, recipes, and data monitoring
- Sensors & Instrumentation: Select, install, troubleshoot, and calibrate proximity, photoelectric, temperature (RTD/thermocouple), pressure, and level sensors, limit switches, and encoders
- Electrical & Mechanical Basics: Read circuit and wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings, and understand control panels and interlocking
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, sensors, VFDs, servos, pneumatics, and electrical controls, and support preventive and predictive maintenance, breakdown analysis, and corrective actions
- Supplier Coordination: Work with machine makers, system integrators, and service engineers on modifications, commissioning, and evaluating technical offers
- Project Execution: Support projects from concept to handover, prepare I/O lists, sequence logic, and specifications, coordinate trials and commissioning, and hand over to Production/Maintenance
Skills Required:
- PLC Programming & Troubleshooting: Develop, modify, and debug PLC programs, and diagnose faults in logic, I/O, and communication to restore machines quickly
- HMI: Configure and support operator screens, alarms, trends, recipes, and data monitoring
- VFD & Servo Systems: Set up, tune, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives and servo systems for speed, position, and motion control
- Industrial Sensors & Instrumentation: Select, install, and troubleshoot proximity, photoelectric, temperature (RTD/thermocouple), pressure, and level sensors, limit switches, and encoders
- Electrical Control Panels & Control Circuits: Read and interpret wiring diagrams and control circuits, and work confidently with panel components such as contactors, relays, breakers, and power supplies
- Pneumatic Systems: Understand cylinders, valves, and air circuits, and troubleshoot pneumatic faults
- Basic Mechanical Knowledge: Read mechanical drawings and understand machine mechanisms, so electrical and mechanical issues can be told apart
- Auto/Manual Sequence Logic: Design and modify machine sequences that work reliably in both automatic and manual modes, including safe mode changes and recovery after a stop
- Machine Interlocking: Apply interlocks that protect operators and equipment and prevent unsafe or out-of-sequence operation
- Machine & Process Automation: Identify and implement automation that reduces manual work and improves cycle time, reliability, and efficiency
Special Requirements:
- SPM / Automatic Machine Maintenance: Hands-on experience in breakdown handling and preventive maintenance
- PLC Hardware Fault Diagnosis: Able to identify PLC board, I/O, and wiring problems
- Mechanical & Pneumatic Fixtures: Working knowledge of machine mechanisms, cylinders, valves, and clamping fixtures
