Job Description

Company Profile:

A leading Current Transformer manufacturer in India, this organization specializes in the design and production of high-precision current transformers that generate alternating current in their secondary winding. With a growing focus on engineering innovation and product development, the company operates a well-established facility at Waluj MIDC and serves a broad clientele across power, utilities, and industrial sectors. The organization is actively strengthening its design capabilities to support SPM development, automation projects, and product design initiatives — creating opportunities for skilled design professionals to contribute to technically meaningful engineering work.

Position Overview:

The Design Freelancer will be responsible for preparing accurate, manufacturing-feasible 2D and 3D design drawings across mechanical, electrical, or product design domains as assigned by the engineering and production teams. This is a project-based, outcome-driven role requiring strong design software proficiency, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The incumbent will support ongoing SPM, automation, and electrical product projects — delivering approved drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation within defined timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering from a recognized institution
  • Relevant design certification in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or EPLAN will be a significant added advantage
  • 2–7 years of hands-on design experience in mechanical, electrical, or product design within manufacturing or engineering environments
  • Demonstrated portfolio of completed design projects including GA drawings, assembly drawings, 3D models, and BOMs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and manufacturing-ready 2D and 3D design drawings as per project requirements, specifications, and applicable engineering standards
  • Develop machine, panel, component, and product designs that are aligned with functional requirements, manufacturing feasibility, and safety considerations
  • Create General Arrangement (GA) drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed part drawings with appropriate tolerances, annotations, and material specifications
  • Incorporate design changes based on structured feedback from engineering, production, and quality teams, ensuring revisions are documented and version-controlled
  • Ensure all designs comply with manufacturing feasibility requirements, applicable safety standards, and organizational quality norms before submission
  • Support SPM development, automation system design, or electrical product projects as assigned, contributing design inputs at relevant project stages
  • Prepare accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and comprehensive technical documentation to accompany all finalized design deliverables
  • Coordinate effectively with internal engineering and production teams — remotely or on-site — to facilitate design review, feedback incorporation, and final approval
  • Maintain organized design records, enforce version control discipline, and ensure all design files are stored and retrievable as per project requirements

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in one or more industry-standard design tools — AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or EPLAN — relevant to the design domain applied for
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, design-for-manufacturability principles, and engineering drawing standards applicable to mechanical or electrical product design
  • Ability to accurately interpret technical specifications, customer requirements, and engineering drawings to translate them into precise design outputs
  • Self-driven work ethic with the ability to manage design tasks independently, meet deadlines, and deliver quality outputs with minimal supervision
  • Good coordination and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams during design review and finalization cycles

Special Requirements:

  • All design deliverables must include approved 2D drawings, 3D models, BOM, and supporting technical documentation as per project scope — incomplete submissions will not be accepted
  • Design revisions must be incorporated promptly and documented with proper version control as per feedback from the engineering or production team
  • Timely completion of all assigned design tasks within defined project schedules is a mandatory performance expectation
  • Prior experience supporting SPM, automation, or electrical panel design projects will be a strong advantage
  • Candidates must be comfortable engaging with internal teams for design coordination, either remotely or at the Waluj MIDC facility as required by project needs
