Position Overview:

The organization is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to lead product design and development activities using AutoCAD and SolidWorks 3D. The role holder will be responsible for creating accurate, manufacturable designs, maintaining detailed design documentation, and supporting manufacturing, installation, and commissioning processes. This position plays a key role in ensuring design quality, resolving technical challenges, and contributing to the organization’s continued growth in the pulp and paper machinery segment.

Qualifications:

• BE in Mechanical Engineering
• 4–8 years of relevant experience in product design engineering
• Prior exposure to SPM (Special Purpose Machinery) or paper manufacturing industries preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and evaluate new and existing products using AutoCAD and SolidWorks 3D, ensuring accurate and error-free designs
• Review design specifications and develop cost-effective designs considering DFM/DFA principles, manufacturing feasibility, and product requirements
• Prepare and maintain detailed drawings, BOMs, part lists, bought-out material details, costing analysis, GA drawings, and foundation drawings
• Provide fabrication and manufacturing drawings, resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and assembly, and support installation and commissioning activities
• Perform quality checks of drawings and documentation, troubleshoot product performance issues, and provide technical support for customer and sales queries
• Coordinate with the Team Lead and other departments, provide project status updates, support drawing approvals, and maintain proper PDM and document control systems
• Develop knowledge of advanced CAD tools, structural analysis, manufacturing processes, product testing, and product applications

Skills Required:

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD for accurate product design and engineering drawings
• Good understanding of design tools, techniques, engineering calculations, and design standards
• Knowledge of engineering materials, material selection, manufacturing processes, and strength of materials
• Understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure accuracy in component design
• Strong focus on design accuracy, quality checks, and error-free documentation
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office tools for reporting and presentations
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and support or guide team members when required

Special Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD for product design and engineering drawings
• Candidates with experience in SPM or paper manufacturing will be preferred
• Good knowledge of engineering design principles, DFM/DFA, GD&T, and tolerance analysis
• Understanding of engineering materials, material selection, strength of materials, and manufacturing processes
