Position Overview:
The Automation Engineer – SPM will be responsible for designing, developing, and commissioning Special Purpose Machine-based automation solutions within the organization’s manufacturing environment. This is a technically intensive role requiring hands-on expertise in PLC and HMI programming, pneumatic and servo systems, automation component selection, and machine commissioning. The incumbent will work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and vendor teams to deliver automation projects that improve productivity, process consistency, and machine safety — directly contributing to the organization’s operational efficiency and manufacturing advancement objectives.
Qualifications:
- Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
- 3–8 years of hands-on experience in SPM automation or industrial automation environments
- Prior experience in manufacturing or electrical industry settings will be strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to independently execute automation projects from concept through commissioning
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute end-to-end SPM-based automation projects aligned with production requirements and efficiency improvement objectives
- Prepare detailed machine concepts, layouts, and technical drawings to guide machine development and vendor coordination
- Select appropriate automation components including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, motors, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems based on application requirements and performance parameters
- Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems to ensure reliable machine operation and seamless integration with production processes
- Coordinate effectively with production, quality, maintenance, and external vendors throughout all phases of machine design, fabrication, and installation
- Supervise machine assembly, electrical wiring, mechanical installation, and commissioning activities to ensure accurate and safe execution
- Conduct machine trials, performance validation, and cycle time optimization to ensure machines meet defined productivity and quality benchmarks
- Ensure all machines comply with applicable safety standards, quality norms, and internal engineering requirements
- Prepare comprehensive SOPs, operator manuals, maintenance guides, and technical documentation for all developed machines and automation systems
- Provide ongoing technical support, resolve machine breakdowns, and identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance automation performance
Skills Required:
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply both electrical and mechanical engineering drawings in the context of SPM design and automation development
- In-depth knowledge of machine safety standards and compliance requirements applicable to industrial automation equipment
- Solid problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose automation issues, identify root causes, and implement effective technical solutions
- Good communication and coordination abilities to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors throughout project execution
- Hands-on proficiency with PLC programming, HMI configuration, sensor selection, pneumatic systems, and servo drive integration
Special Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of SPM automation and industrial automation systems is mandatory — candidates without this background will not be considered
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, sensors, pneumatics, and servo systems is a critical selection requirement
- Practical experience in machine assembly supervision, wiring, installation, and commissioning in a manufacturing environment is essential
- Prior exposure to the electrical manufacturing or transformer industry will be a significant advantage
- Must be willing to work full-time from the Waluj MIDC, Chh. Sambhajinagar facility and engage actively with shop-floor and vendor teams as required
