Position Overview:

The company is seeking an experienced Sr. Purchase Manager to lead and manage end-to-end procurement operations, including domestic and import purchasing, vendor development, and cost optimization. The role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted material availability for production while strengthening supplier relationships, driving procurement strategy, and delivering measurable cost efficiencies across the organization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain/Purchase Management preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase & Procurement Management: Receive and review purchase requisitions, identify suitable suppliers, obtain quotations, negotiate prices/terms, and process purchase orders to ensure timely procurement per production requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Identify and develop new suppliers, evaluate them on quality/price/delivery, maintain approved vendor lists, and monitor supplier performance to resolve supply issues.
  • Material Planning & Stock Control: Coordinate with Production, Stores, and Planning to monitor stock levels, avoid shortages/excess inventory, and ensure timely availability of critical materials.
  • Cost Control & Negotiation: Negotiate competitive pricing, analyze market trends for cost-saving opportunities, and support cost reduction and value-engineering initiatives.
  • Quality, Compliance & Supplier Follow-up: Ensure procurement from approved suppliers per company policies, coordinate with Quality on material issues, and track open orders/delivery commitments to escalate delays proactively.

Skills Required:

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills, with the ability to secure favorable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for effective coordination with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of procurement processes, commercial terms, and purchase documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability to evaluate supplier options and resolve supply issues
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems for tracking purchase orders, inventory, and procurement reports
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong follow-up discipline to track deliveries and coordinate across Stores, Production, and Quality
  • Cost-conscious, result-oriented approach focused on measurable procurement efficiency

Special Requirements:

  • Sound understanding of procurement processes, commercial terms, and purchase documentation
  • Experience in import handling overseas sourcing, documentation (BOL, invoice, COO), customs clearance via CHA, and duty/DGFT compliance
  • Working knowledge of 5S practices for implementation and audit in stores/procurement areas
