Position Overview:
The organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Purchase Manager to lead procurement operations for raw materials, bought-out parts, consumables, tools, and services. The role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted production, driving cost efficiency, and building a robust, reliable supplier base. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams to align sourcing strategy with business and production goals, playing a key role in strengthening the company’s supply chain resilience and cost competitiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, or Materials Management preferred.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in Automotive Components, Wiring Harness, Electrical Components, Engineering Manufacturing, or Industrial Procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies ensuring timely sourcing of raw materials, bought-out parts, consumables, tools, and services.
- Lead vendor identification, evaluation, and development, while driving localization and alternate source development.
- Conduct commercial negotiations and drive annual cost reduction initiatives across the supplier base.
- Monitor supplier performance on Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) parameters, and lead vendor audits and improvement programs.
- Ensure uninterrupted production through effective material planning and cross-functional coordination with Production, Planning, Quality, Finance, and Stores.
Skills Required:
- Strong strategic sourcing capability to balance cost, quality, and supply reliability.
- Proven commercial negotiation skills with a track record of driving cost savings.
- Demonstrated success in vendor development and long-term supplier relationship management.
- Sound inventory management skills to ensure material availability while optimizing working capital.
- Proficiency in ERP-based procurement systems for data-driven decision-making.
Special Requirements:
- Automotive/Wiring Harness procurement experience is mandatory.
- Strong vendor development and commercial negotiation skills required.
- Proven expertise in strategic sourcing and cost optimization.
- Hands-on experience with SAP
