Job Description
Company Profile:
A leading Current Transformer manufacturer in India, this organization specializes in the design and production of high-precision current transformers that generate alternating current in their secondary winding. With a well-established manufacturing facility at Waluj MIDC and a strong focus on operational discipline and engineering quality, the company serves a wide clientele across power, utilities, and industrial sectors. The organization fosters a structured, process-driven shop-floor environment and is committed to building a skilled and motivated production workforce to meet growing manufacturing demands.
Position Overview:
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day shop-floor operations, ensuring production targets are met within defined timelines, quality standards, and safety norms. This is a hands-on supervisory role that requires a technically sound individual with working knowledge of electrical assembly, coil winding, CT/PT transformer components, and testing processes. The incumbent will directly manage shop-floor personnel, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and support the Production Head in planning and audit activities — contributing meaningfully to operational efficiency, output consistency, and workforce productivity.
Qualifications:
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution — mandatory
- 1–4 years of hands-on experience in electrical manufacturing, with preference for candidates from transformer, CT/PT, or related electrical equipment manufacturing environments
- Working knowledge of electrical drawings, work instructions, and shop-floor processes including coil winding, assembly, fitting, and testing is essential
Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily Production Management
- Supervise and manage day-to-day production activities on the shop floor to ensure output targets are achieved within defined timelines
- Allocate tasks effectively to technicians, helpers, and operators based on production plans, skill sets, and workforce availability
- Track production progress against daily and weekly schedules, identify delays proactively, and take corrective action to maintain workflow continuity
2. Electrical & Technical Knowledge
- Apply a sound understanding of electrical components, CT/PT transformers, wiring, coil winding, assembly, and testing processes to guide and support the production team
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving production and electrical issues on the shop floor to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity
- Read, interpret, and implement electrical drawings and work instructions accurately to ensure process adherence at every stage of manufacturing
3. Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all products in process and at completion meet defined company quality standards and applicable electrical industry requirements
- Monitor work-in-progress regularly, identify defects and deviations early, and implement measures to minimize rework and rejection
- Enforce compliance with safety norms, housekeeping standards, and 5S practices across the shop floor at all times
4. Manpower & Shop-floor Management
- Supervise production staff with a focus on maintaining discipline, productivity, attendance adherence, and positive team morale
- Train new workers on standard operating procedures, process methods, and electrical safety protocols to build shop-floor competence
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, work distribution, output per operator, and shift-wise productivity for management review
5. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate effectively with Store, Purchase, Testing, and Quality teams to ensure uninterrupted production flow and timely material availability
- Report daily production output, material shortages, equipment issues, and production delays to the Production Head or Manager in a timely and structured manner
- Support the Production Head and Manager during audits, production planning exercises, and capacity review meetings
Skills Required:
- Proven ability to manage a shop-floor team with clarity, maintaining discipline, productivity, and a collaborative work environment
- Good communication and reporting skills to convey production updates, technical concerns, and workforce issues to supervisors and peers effectively
- Strong problem-solving ability to address day-to-day production, technical, and manpower challenges with minimal escalation
- Hands-on competence in electrical assembly, coil winding, fitting, and testing processes specific to transformer or electrical equipment manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and work instructions and translate them into accurate shop-floor execution
Special Requirements:
- Mandatory hands-on knowledge of electrical assembly, winding, fitting, and testing processes — candidates without this practical experience will not be considered
- Prior experience in CT/PT transformer or electrical panel manufacturing environments will be strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable working in a structured shop-floor environment with defined shift schedules, production targets, and reporting requirements
- Willingness to work full-time from the Waluj MIDC, Chh. Sambhajinagar plant location is required
