Job Description

Company Profile:

A reputed turnkey industrial engineering and fabrication company based at Ambernath MIDC, Thane, with strong project execution capabilities across heavy fabrication and structural steel segments. The organisation delivers end-to-end engineering solutions to clients across industrial and infrastructure sectors, with a firm commitment to quality, safety, and compliance at every stage of project delivery.

Position Overview:

The Production Engineer will be responsible for planning, monitoring, and driving daily fabrication activities on the shop floor. The role requires hands-on involvement in drawing interpretation, welding and fit-up supervision, cross-functional coordination, and production reporting — ensuring every fabrication activity is executed as per approved drawings, WPS, and quality standards. The incumbent will play a key operational role in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant production output across all heavy fabrication and structural steel works.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering from a recognised institution
  • Working knowledge of fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and structural steel practices
  • Proficiency in MS Excel for production reporting and data tracking
  • Basic understanding of WPS and standard fabrication process flows

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and monitor daily production activities across all heavy fabrication and structural steel works on the shop floor
  • Study, interpret, and effectively communicate fabrication and structural drawings to the production team for accurate shop floor execution
  • Coordinate with design, quality, stores, and site teams to ensure smooth workflow, material availability, and zero production delays
  • Prepare accurate daily and weekly production reports using MS Excel, tracking output against planned targets
  • Monitor and supervise all fabrication stages — cutting, fit-up, welding, and finishing — ensuring process discipline and quality adherence at each stage
  • Ensure all fabrication is executed strictly as per approved drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Track material consumption and production progress, proactively flagging deviations to the reporting manager
  • Ensure full compliance with quality control norms, safety standards, and statutory requirements throughout all shop floor operations

Skills Required:

  • Hands-on experience in heavy fabrication and structural steel production environments
  • Practical knowledge of welding processes — MIG/MAG, SMAW, SAW, and associated fabrication techniques
  • Basic understanding of WPS, welding symbols, and standard fabrication practices
  • Proficiency in MS Excel for daily reporting, progress tracking, and production data management
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for drawing reading and shop floor coordination
  • Good interpersonal and coordination skills to manage multi-team workflows effectively

Special Requirements:

  • Candidates with direct shop floor experience in heavy fabrication or structural steel projects will be strongly preferred
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel — daily and weekly production MIS reporting is a core deliverable of this role
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for drawing interpretation is mandatory
  • Must have a clear understanding of welding processes — MIG/MAG, SMAW, SAW — and the ability to supervise fabrication activities accordingly
  • Candidate must be willing to work at Ambernath MIDC and adhere to shop floor schedules, quality protocols, and safety norms
