This role demands a technically grounded professional who can bridge customer requirements with engineering capabilities, manage the full sales cycle — from lead generation to order closure — and actively contribute to the company’s strategic market positioning. The incumbent will represent the organization at the frontline of business development while maintaining long-term relationships with utilities, industries, contractors, and EPC players.

Qualifications:

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution (mandatory)
  • 7–10 years of direct sales and marketing experience within the transformer manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of power and distribution transformer specifications, standards (IS/IEC), and technical parameters
  • Exposure to government and private sector tendering processes, including DISCOMs, SEBs, and industrial procurement
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, MS Office, and sales reporting systems
  • Strong understanding of project-based sales cycles and long-gestation B2B deals

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Generation & Market Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across industries, utilities, EPC contractors, and government infrastructure projects through targeted outreach, field visits, and participation in trade exhibitions
  • Research upcoming projects in industrial parks, infrastructure corridors, electrical boards, and private sector capex pipelines
  • Build and maintain a structured customer database using CRM tools to enable pipeline visibility and follow-up discipline

Inquiry Management & Quotation

  • Handle inbound and outbound inquiries and generate accurate, competitive quotations in coordination with the design and costing teams
  • Submit technically and commercially complete offers within defined timelines
  • Actively follow up on submitted proposals and drive conversion through structured engagement

Customer Relationship Management

  • Engage regularly with existing and prospective clients to understand evolving technical requirements and provide tailored solutions
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with key accounts to ensure repeat business, customer retention, and referral generation
  • Address post-sales concerns proactively and coordinate with service and support teams for resolution of complex issues

Tender Participation

  • Track and monitor government and private sector tenders relevant to the company’s product range
  • Coordinate with the internal tender team to ensure timely preparation and submission of technically compliant bid documents
  • Follow up diligently on tender outcomes and provide feedback to management on competitive positioning

Sales Reporting & Coordination

  • Maintain accurate daily and weekly reports covering customer visits, inquiry status, and sales pipeline movement
  • Consistently achieve monthly and quarterly order booking targets
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, production, and dispatch teams to ensure on-time order execution and customer satisfaction

Market Intelligence & Feedback

  • Monitor and report competitor activity including pricing benchmarks, product offerings, delivery timelines, and market reputation
  • Keep management informed of emerging market trends, changing customer demands, and new application areas for the product portfolio

Skills Required:

  • Strong technical communication skills with the ability to present complex electrical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven negotiation and deal-closure capabilities in high-value, long-cycle B2B environments
  • Professional presentation and proposal development skills suited to corporate and utility clientele
  • Disciplined sales process adherence with data-driven reporting habits
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to coordinate effectively across design, production, and service functions
  • Self-motivated, field-ready, and capable of managing a large client territory independently

Special Requirements:

  • Prior experience in selling power transformers, distribution transformers, or related electrical equipment is mandatory; candidates from unrelated industries will not be considered
  • Willingness to undertake regular field travel across the assigned sales territory
  • Familiarity with DISCOM / SEB procurement norms and tender compliance is a strong advantage
