Position Overview:

The EHS Officer will be responsible for ensuring complete environment, health, and safety compliance during a critical plant relocation project. The role demands hands-on oversight of high-risk activities including heavy machine dismantling, erection, automation handling, and material movement, ensuring zero-incident execution while meeting organizational EHS standards and KPIs throughout the project lifecycle.


Qualifications:

  • Degree / Diploma in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical)
  • 6 to 10 years of relevant EHS experience, preferably in plant relocation, erection & commissioning, or heavy industrial environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review HIRA / JSA for shifting activities including molding machine dismantling/erection, automation & cobot handling, store rack relocation, MHE movement, and electrical isolation/cable shifting
  • Identify and mitigate critical hazards such as lifting, crushing, electrical, oil spills, fire, fall from height, and ergonomic risks
  • Review and validate method statements and lifting plans submitted by contractors
  • Ensure safe lifting practices for heavy machinery, verifying fitness and certification of cranes, forklifts, hydra, slings, belts, and D-shackles
  • Ensure only certified operators handle MHEs and verify use of proper lifting points, tag lines, barricading, and signage
  • Supervise all critical lifting operations and immediately stop unsafe acts or conditions
  • Evaluate and approve shifting contractors from an EHS standpoint, ensuring valid licenses, trained operators, certified equipment, and proper PPE usage
  • Conduct contractor safety induction prior to work commencement
  • Implement and monitor Permit to Work systems including Electrical Work Permit (LOTO mandatory), Height Work Permit, Hot Work Permit, and General Permits
  • Ensure LOTO compliance before electrical/mechanical dismantling and verify earthing, cable management, and panel safety post-reinstallation
  • Prepare emergency response plans and ensure availability of fire extinguishers, spill kits, and first aid boxes; coordinate mock drills as required
  • Investigate near misses, unsafe conditions, and incidents; maintain daily EHS checklists and safety observation records
  • Conduct training and awareness sessions for contractor employees on site
  • Maintain organizational EHS requirements and project-specific KPIs throughout the relocation

Skills Required:

  • Strong working knowledge of HIRA, JSA, and risk assessment methodologies for industrial relocation projects
  • Proven expertise in lifting & rigging safety, MHE operations, and heavy equipment handling protocols
  • Sound understanding of Permit to Work systems, LOTO procedures, and electrical/mechanical safety standards
  • Effective contractor management and safety induction capabilities
  • Strong incident investigation, documentation, and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities

Special Requirements:

  • Prior experience in plant shifting / relocation projects involving heavy machinery is highly preferred
  • Willingness to work on-site at Aurangabad for the duration of the project
  • Must be available for extended/flexible working hours during critical shifting phases
  • Strong field presence with ability to supervise high-risk activities directly
