Position Overview:
The company is seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer to manage end-to-end IT operations across its manufacturing facility. The role is central to ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of IT helpdesk support, networking infrastructure, basic server administration, and ERP system reliability. The incumbent will play a key role in minimizing production downtime by ensuring consistent uptime of IT systems and providing timely resolution of technical issues across departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in IT support, networking, and basic server administration, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Support
- Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, printers, email, and ERP applications.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Resolve issues related to operating systems, office applications, and business software.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for issue resolution and maintenance.
- Maintain IT asset inventory and document support activities.
Networking Support
- Monitor and troubleshoot LAN, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, and network devices.
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, access points, and network printers.
- Manage user access, IP addressing, and basic network security practices.
- Coordinate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to resolve connectivity issues.
- Ensure uptime of network services to support production and office operations.
Server Administration (Basic)
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and monitoring of Windows and Linux servers.
- Manage user accounts, shared folders, and access permissions.
- Perform routine server health checks and monitor storage utilization.
- Support data backup and restoration activities.
- Coordinate with ERP and application support teams for server-related issues.
- Maintain working knowledge of virtualization, remote access tools, and server security best practices.
Manufacturing Sector Support
- Support ERP systems (uptime, access, and technical functioning) for production, inventory, dispatch, and procurement processes.
- Coordinate with production, stores, quality, and dispatch teams to resolve system-related issues.
- Ensure availability and reliability of IT systems to minimize production downtime.
Skills Required:
- IT Helpdesk & Asset Management: Ability to diagnose hardware, software, and connectivity issues within SLA; track devices, warranties, and access across the employee lifecycle.
- Networking & Server Administration: Proficiency in troubleshooting LAN/WAN issues; managing user accounts, permissions, and health checks on Windows and Linux systems.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets & SQL Basics: Skilled in building formulas, dashboards, and reports using filtering and grouping logic (e.g., QUERY) on large datasets.
- ERP Knowledge (ERPNext preferred): Understanding of how production, inventory, and dispatch modules connect to support users and reconcile data.
- Analytical & Communication Skills: Ability to diagnose vague technical complaints accurately and explain fixes in plain language to non-technical staff.
Special Requirements:
- Consistent resolution of IT tickets within defined SLA timelines — the primary measure of day-to-day support quality.
- Strong focus on network and system uptime, given its direct impact on production continuity.
- Accurate and up-to-date asset register management, including device tracking and warranty status.
