Job Description

Company Profile:

A leading Current Transformer manufacturer in India, this organization specializes in the design and production of high-precision current transformers that generate alternating current in their secondary winding. With a well-established manufacturing facility at Waluj MIDC and a strong commitment to engineering quality, the company serves a broad clientele across power, utilities, and industrial sectors. The organization operates with a deeply embedded quality-first culture, backed by robust systems, certified processes, and a continuous improvement mindset that drives consistent product performance and customer satisfaction.

Position Overview:

The Quality Head will carry full ownership of the organization’s quality management function at the plant level — leading quality systems, inspection operations, audit compliance, customer complaint resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives across transformer manufacturing. This is a senior leadership role that demands both technical depth in electrical manufacturing and strong people management capabilities. The incumbent will be central to maintaining product reliability, enforcing quality standards, driving certification readiness, and building a high-performing quality team — directly influencing the organization’s manufacturing reputation and customer trust.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution — mandatory
  • 7–15 years of progressive experience in quality management within the electrical manufacturing or transformer industry
  • Formal training or certification in ISO Quality Management Systems, QC tools, or Lean/Six Sigma methodologies will be a strong advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in independently leading quality teams and managing end-to-end plant quality operations

Key Responsibilities:

A. Quality Management

  • Lead and manage all quality operations at the plant, including incoming inspection, in-process quality control, and final product inspection
  • Develop, implement, and continuously monitor quality control systems, SOPs, and inspection procedures aligned with internal and customer standards
  • Ensure consistent compliance with applicable internal and external quality standards across all stages of manufacturing

B. RCA & VIVA Analysis

  • Conduct detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for all quality failures, production defects, and field non-conformances
  • Prepare and drive VIVA Analysis for repeated process deviations and recurring quality issues to identify systemic gaps
  • Define, implement, and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to ensure effective and sustainable closure of quality problems

C. Customer Complaint Management

  • Handle customer complaints with professionalism, urgency, and structured resolution methodology including 8D / CAPA reporting
  • Conduct thorough analysis of customer feedback trends and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with production, design, and service teams to investigate, resolve, and close complaints within committed timelines

D. Audit Handling

  • Lead preparation, coordination, and execution of internal and external audits including ISO audits, customer quality audits, and process audits
  • Prepare and maintain all documentation required for certification and recertification audits, ensuring audit readiness at all times
  • Drive timely and documented closure of all audit Non-Conformities (NCs) with structured, evidence-backed action plans

E. Team & Process Management

  • Train, mentor, and guide the quality team to build technical competence, process ownership, and a culture of accountability
  • Monitor in-process quality, incoming material inspection, and final product inspection for consistency and standard adherence
  • Maintain structured quality documentation including SOPs, inspection reports, test records, and quality management system registers

F. Continuous Improvement

  • Drive quality improvement initiatives including 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and Lean manufacturing practices across the plant
  • Work systematically to reduce rejection rates, rework, and defect levels while improving overall product performance and reliability
  • Develop and revise quality standards and inspection criteria in response to evolving market requirements and customer expectations

Skills Required:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical products, current transformers, assemblies, wiring configurations, and electrical testing methodologies
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a cross-functional quality team
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a structured, data-driven approach to quality decision-making and root cause identification
  • Hands-on proficiency with electrical testing equipment and a deep understanding of quality parameters specific to transformer manufacturing
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying QC tools including RCA, CAPA, VIVA Analysis, FMEA, and statistical process control methods

Special Requirements:

  • In-depth understanding of RCA, CAPA, VIVA Analysis, and core quality control tools is mandatory — candidates without this expertise will not be considered
  • Proven experience in independently leading ISO audits, customer quality audits, and vendor audits with successful non-conformity closure
  • Hands-on familiarity with continuous improvement frameworks such as 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and Lean practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in current transformer or electrical equipment manufacturing will be strongly preferred
  • Must be willing to work full-time from the Waluj MIDC, Chh. Sambhajinagar plant location
