Company Profile

A well-established manufacturer of power and distribution transformers, supplying reliable and high-quality electrical equipment to government utilities and private sector clients across India. The organization is recognized for its engineering credibility, adherence to delivery commitments, and a strong customer base spanning state electricity boards, EPC contractors, industrial clients, and infrastructure development projects.

Position Overview

The Sales Head will assume full commercial ownership of the organization’s sales function — driving new client acquisition, managing key accounts, leading tender participation, and ensuring consistent achievement of revenue targets. This is a senior field-and-strategy role that demands deep technical knowledge of transformers, strong relationships within the power sector, and the ability to coordinate internally with design, costing, production, and dispatch teams to deliver on customer commitments. The incumbent will directly influence business growth, market positioning, and customer retention for the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) — mandatory
  • Additional qualification in Sales, Marketing, or Business Management will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and tender documents
  • Working knowledge of CRM platforms and MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead Generation & Market Development
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across industries, state and central utilities, EPC contractors, and electrical contractors through field visits, cold calls, networking, and participation in industry exhibitions
  • Research and proactively track upcoming projects in infrastructure, industrial parks, and electrical board procurement pipelines
  • Build, maintain, and regularly update a structured customer database using CRM platforms
  1. Inquiry Management & Quotation
  • Manage inbound and outbound inquiries and generate technically accurate, commercially competitive quotations in close coordination with the design and costing teams
  • Ensure timely submission of offers with complete technical and commercial documentation
  • Follow up consistently on submitted offers and actively convert open inquiries into confirmed purchase orders
  1. Customer Relationship Management
  • Conduct regular, structured interactions with existing and prospective clients to understand requirements and provide solution-aligned responses
  • Nurture long-term relationships with key accounts to drive repeat business, referrals, and wallet share growth
  • Coordinate with the service and technical support team to ensure timely resolution of post-sales escalations, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
  1. Tender Participation
  • Track and monitor government and private sector tenders across target geographies and segments on an ongoing basis
  • Coordinate with the internal tender team for preparation and timely submission of all required bid documentation
  • Monitor tender award statuses and follow up on outcomes to maximise order conversion
  1. Market Intelligence & Feedback
  • Gather and analyse competitor data including pricing, product offerings, delivery lead times, and quality feedback received from the field
  • Provide regular, actionable market intelligence updates to management on emerging trends, customer demands, and competitive activity
  1. Sales Reporting & Coordination
  • Maintain accurate daily and weekly sales reports, customer visit logs, and real-time inquiry status updates
  • Achieve monthly and quarterly order booking and revenue targets as set by management
  • Collaborate with design, production, and dispatch teams to ensure customer delivery commitments are met without compromise

Skills Required

  • Technical Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of power and distribution transformers — specifications, ratings, applicable IS/IEC standards, and end-use application contexts
  • B2B Sales Expertise: Proven track record in technical and industrial sales with direct experience managing government utilities, EPC contractors, and private sector procurement teams
  • Tender & Proposal Management: Demonstrated hands-on experience in tender tracking, bid preparation, and documentation for both government and private sector tenders
  • CRM & Reporting Discipline: Consistent and structured use of CRM tools, sales pipeline management, and visit activity reporting
  • Negotiation & Closing Skills: Ability to negotiate effectively on commercial and technical parameters with procurement teams, consultants, and senior decision-makers
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Strong ability to collaborate with design, estimation, production, and dispatch teams for seamless and timely order fulfilment
  • Communication & Presentation: Strong verbal and written communication in English and Hindi; proficiency in Marathi preferred; confident in presenting technical proposals to clients
  • Market Intelligence Orientation: Ability to systematically gather, analyse, and present competitor and market data with actionable business insights

Special Requirements

  • Mandatory: Experience in the Transformer Manufacturing Industry is an absolute requirement — candidates from other industries will not be considered
  • Must be willing to undertake regular field travel across Maharashtra and other key target states
  • Familiarity with state electricity board procurement processes and government tender portals is strongly preferred
  • Candidates based in or willing to relocate to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will be given preference
  • Must demonstrate a consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a technical product or industrial equipment sales environment
